The Windermere neighborhood is a small but high end neighborhood which lies upon the shores of Lake Washington north of Laurelhurst and south of Sand Point. Much like its neighbor to the south, Windermere grew slowly in the early 1900’s as the Seattle Lakeshore Railroad was built and people moved into the area to start farming along the shores of Lake Washington. Development increased in the mid 1900’s and Windermere grew into the serene residential neighborhood it is today with tree lined streets and nice homes on large lots. There is no business district inside Windermere but Sand Point Way which forms the western border has a limited number of shops and restaurants on it and the large University Village shopping complex is close by. Homes in Windermere are exclusively single family with price points starting around $800k for starter homes, those that are updated of have views above $1m and waterfront properties exceeding $4m.
