View Ridge in northeast Seattle is located along a ridge which overlooks Magnuson Park, Sand Point and Lake Washington. Despite the growth of neighborhoods nearby as Lake City Way grew into prominence, View Ridge was not developed until after 1936, which makes it one of the newer neighborhoods in all of Seattle. As the land owners cleared trees on the hillside the spectacular views of the lake and Cascade mountain range were revealed. Development moved quickly despite being shortly after the Great Depression, and had an additional surge around World War II.
View Ridge has strived to preserve the views in the neighborhood and residents enjoy quiet streets, a park, playfield and community swim and tennis club. There is no business district inside View Ridge but residents have relatively easy access to the businesses in nearby Ravenna and Roosevelt. Homes in View Ridge are solely single family and primarily built in the mid 1900’s. Price points start as low as $500k for smaller homes or those less updated while the larger homes or those with best views command prices around $1m.
