The North Beach neighborhood is a sub-community northwest of the heart of Ballard occupying the area north of 85th Street and Golden Gardens Park and bordering Puget Sound at its western edges. North Beach grew in the early 1900’s as expansion pushed northward from Ballard. The neighborhood was developed as entirely residential housing and that continues today as there are no businesses inside the neighborhood itself. Residents of North Beach do have quick access to the shops, restaurants and businesses in nearby Crown Hill at the intersection of 85th Street and 15th Avenue NW, which serves as the southwest corner of the neighborhood.
Inside North Beach there is the North Beach Park, a 9 acre green space with walking trails. Golden Gardens Park at the southwestern corner of the neighborhood, is an 87 acre park along the shores of Puget Sound and offers trails, play areas, a dog park, beach access, picnic areas and event facilities. Housing in North Beach is exclusively residential with homes primarily built in the early to mid 1900’s. Price points in North Beach start around $500k for older small homes and quickly go up into the $700’s for homes that are larger or recently remodeled. Homes along the western edges of North Beach with water and mountain views can command prices above $1m.
